Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy can help to reduce and manage your pain anywhere from the onset of pain to the chronic stages. Physiotherapy can treat a broad spectrum of conditions and also aid in preventing injuries by screening for bio-mechanical dysfunctions. This is advantageous whether you are looking to be free of pain in your day to day life, a weekend warrior or a high-performance athlete experiencing recurring injuries. Screening allows us to rapidly locate where joints are inadequately mobile and areas of instability that may contribute to your discomfort and poor movement patterns.

Utilising an evidence-based practice with a combination of hands on treatment, postural education and a specific exercise program tailored for you contributes to improved pain free function and performance

Where does it come from?

Physical therapy originated as a professional group that dated back to Per Henrik Ling, who is known as the "father of Swedish gymnastics." He founded the royal Central Institute of Gymnastics in the year 1813 for massage, manipulation and exercise.

What are the health benefits?

  • Pain management with reduced need for opioids

  • Avoiding surgery

  • Improved mobility and movement

  • Recovery from injury or trauma

  • Recovery from stroke or paralysis

  • Fall prevention

  • Improved balance

  • Management of age-related medical problems

What can you expect?

A session can entail a comprehensive screening to assess the source of your discomfort or dysfunction and a treatment tailored to these specific findings. Treatment can consist of Deep tissue massage, Dry Needling, Taping and a tailored exercise program to suit your needs.
