our arts therapist
Lucy-Mary Mulholland is a clinical arts therapist specialising in work with children and teenagers in psychological distress - social, emotional or behavioural.
She completed her masters in Arts Therapy (Clinical) at Whitecliffe college, after studying psychology at Canterbury University. She worked with children with ASD and attachment issues for three years at Dance Therapy NZ. She then spent two years overseas, working for school-based art therapy services in Chicago and Bristol (UK) before returning home to New Zealand in 2016.
Back in New Zealand she celebrated the publishing of her case study in the book Arts Therapists in Multi-disciplinary Settings and began work setting up a charity to take arts and play therapy into schools (apte.org.nz). She also trained as a mindfulness facilitator for the Pause-Breath-Smile school program. She now sees individuals and groups for arts therapy sessions at Parnell Natural Health and in schools across Auckland.
She also has a partnership with Basement Theatre supporting the mental health of the creative community and collaborating with artists who work with vulnerable communities and sensitive subject matter.
