What is dance/movement therapy

Dance/movement therapy (DMT) is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being.

It does not require skills in dance and/or being flexible physically. Anyone at any age can chose to participate in dance/movement therapy. It is a pathway to find dynamic equilibrium between the body, the mind, the emotion, and the spirit. It supports us to move between “BE” and “DO,” excretion and recuperation, expression and function, inner and outer, mobility and stability in life.

What to expect

Dance therapy sessions take place in a warm and safe environment, and may or may not involve standing up and/or moving. It is more about practicing the awareness and attending to our body sense, our innate wisdom. Jacquelyn will support you to access this wisdom and to draw out resource from within. According to the clients’ need and comfort level, she may invite you for movement explorations in various degrees. Verbal conversation is usually involved with adult sessions, whereas sessions with children may more movement/dance oriented as it’s their natural ways of living.


What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is an integrative practice, drawing from a number of psychology and counselling approaches. With Jacquelyn’s experience working as a therapists, she brought in the embodied practice to verbal coaching sessions. The clients are invited to be more aware of their body sensations, feelings, and thoughts while working toward to their goals.

Jacquelyn received her professional life coach training in NZ, and is currently offering bodyful coaching sessions at Parnell Natural Health and on-line with overseas clients.  She takes an embodied, progressive, proactive approach, with her vision to make differences in the community. What to expect

Coaching sessions involve dialogues between the coach and coachee. Usually start with the coach listening to the reasons for the coachee to come, and then ask clarifying questions. During the sessions, they will together discuss goals, blockages, and ways to achieve goals. It may also involves embodied experiment, tool learning, resource and confidence building, body-mind-emotion alignment, step-by-step achievable action planning, online support between sessions, and the recognition for achievement in each single session.

Jacquelyn is a thoughtful and intuitive coach who asks the right questions to get you to the turning point to make a change. Her empathetic nature, and gentle questioning, creates a supportive space in which you feel comfortable to explore the reason you’ve chosen to see her in the first place.
